Facial fat grafting, also known as autologous fat transfer is a cosmetic procedure in which a your own fat is carefully harvested from one part of the body where reduction may be desirable , fat is then processed, and strategically transferred to areas of the face that have lost volume . Unlike synthetic fillers, facial fat grafting uses your own tissue, making it a natural option for restoring facial fullness.
Facial fat can be used in several areas, including:
* Cheeks and midface – to restore youthful fullness and improve cheek definition
* Under-eye hollows – to soften the appearance of tear-trough and infraorbital hollowing
* Nasolabial folds – to reduce deep folds between the nose and corners of the mouth
* Marionette lines – to soften lines extending from the corners of the mouth towards the chin
* Temples – to restore hollowing of the temples
* Forehead – to improve contour irregularities
* Lips – for subtle, natural augmentation and contour enhancement
* Chin and jawline – to improve facial balance and contour
* Facial asymmetry – to improve selected contour differences
* Overall facial rejuvenation – to restore age-related volume loss and create a more refreshed appearance
Fat is usually harvested from areas where there is an adequate amount of unwanted fat, such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs or other suitable donor areas. The area is carefully assessed before surgery. A small amount of fat is removed using gentle liposuction through tiny incisions. The harvested fat is then processed to separate healthy fat cells from unwanted fluid and impurities before being prepared for transfer.Facial fat grafting is a highly precise procedure. After harvesting and processing the fat, it is transferred using fine cannulas into carefully selected anatomical planes..
The aim is not simply to “fill” lines, but to restore facial volume, improve proportions and create harmonious results
Nano Fat & Fat-Derived Rejuvenation: A portion of harvested fat can be processed into a finer preparation commonly referred to as nano fat to improve the appearance and quality of the skin rather than substantial augmentation.
A proportion of the transferred fat can survive permanently once it establishes a blood supply in its new location. However, not all transferred fat survives, and the final amount of retained volume varies between individuals. Some patients may require more than one session. The face also continues to age naturally after surgery, so facial fat grafting does not stop the ageing process. Swelling and bruising are common following facial fat grafting and may initially make the face appear fuller than the intended final result. As swelling settles and the transferred fat stabilises, the appearance gradually becomes more natural.
A personalised consultation is essential to determine the appropriate areas for fat transfer, the expected degree of correction and whether additional procedures would provide a better overall result.
